I'll drop it in the covers thread but one of the things I love about The Clash was the pure love of music as evidenced (to me) by their cover of the MG's Time is Tight.

That's not an easy song for the drummer & bass player.

Of course, there are a few child prodigies out there right now. (Zoe Thompson, JP Millenix and Quinn Sullivan come to mind.) YouTube probably makes it easier to find out about them. I could contribute a few posts to a thread on that topic, as my eldest child loves to watch other kids rock out on guitar.

I can't get past that cute little girl singing a Tool song with a "Rock Angel" t-shirt...makes me laugh.

For some reason I got to thinking about The Wall. Musically it's terrific. Lyrically, thematically... It can't withstand any level of scrutiny and is almost unlistenable if you're paying attention. Teachers suck, governments suck, women suck. It's like listening to my teenaged self prattle on about how [expletive] up every single thing in the world was. I'll get to hear this kind of stuff out loud again in about 5-7 years.

In short, I'm old.

Listen to the sound of the words and go with that they support the tone of the music. A lot of songs require this level of non-scrutiny.

This is an article from a couple of months ago, but it's an interesting little timeline on Anna Kendrick's "Cups" and how it charted a solid year after the release of the film "Pitch Perfect".

I'm a little bit embarrassed by how much I like that song. I wish I could blame it on Anna Kendrick being sexy, but I don't think that's it.

I have the biggest crush on Anna Kendrick. Here's the evolution of the actual song though:
