First off I dont think its LaRussa who was at "fault" and pitchers don't throw as many shutouts as they used to.

Wainwright had just had really bad luck with not getting CG's and shutouts. He only went 9 innings once in his outstanding 2009 season (in an game that went 10 innings), despite 233.0 IP and going 8 or more innings 8 times.
Looking at fangraph's numbers (extremely small sample size warning), it looks like Walters has ditched his awful slider and replaced it with cutter. I'm surprised no one suggested that while he was with the Cards - especially since the cutter was sorta known as Duncan's specialty.
Is there a job in the world of jobs that takes less talent to accomplish then ticket taker at the ballpark? I mean if you can point a scanner at a bar code you have a job.
That's pretty sad no one recognized him. Could you imagine Mo doing this. Plus, Lunhow has a twitter account that he is active on and is definitely worthwhile following (ie, he tweets/retweets relevant Astros stuff...not what color his [expletive] is) and he had his picture as his profile pic for a while.
