I bought it. My buddy and I both decided to buy it so we could set up an live league. It could still be fun if I can figure what's going on... but it's not the best purchase I've ever made.Jocephus wrote:yeah...i did a little surfing about FOM...not too hot...did you buy it or rent it?

At least I'm not the only person that has the exact same issues with the game.Jocephus wrote:im not finding a whole of info on it...here's a forum though, dedicated to ithaltz wrote:I bought it. Players stats seriously decrease over the offseason. Jan 1st hit and Pujols dropped to a 70, Ludwick to a 40 and some other weird stuff (players are ranked on a 20-80 scouting scale).
I guess I ended up putting those dudes on waivers somehow before ST.
The FA period is infuriating. Different guys show up on the available players list at different times. Russell Martin was non-tendered for some unknown reason, and I made him an offer. Like a week later he says he's got better offers from other teams, so I go back to find him again and he's gone, same with Ethier who I was going to sign to replace Schumaker. At this point Greg Maddux popped up as an available player, but he wasn't there before. Sabathia and some other guys were just never available when I looked at the list, but they didn't sign for like a month.
No real minor leaguers, which should be expected for licensing reasons, but still kind of sucks.
Some young players are rated higher than their potential rating. I have no idea what that means.
I can't figure out how to put someone in the first spot of the depth chart.
Etc etc.
I'm going to try and figure it out again right now, starting over. I got so frustrated last night that I just turned it off without even saving what I'd done.

I wonder if Baseball Mogul for the PC would be more enjoyable for you, haltz. I only messed around with it last year, but it's been around a while at this point and probably is a bit more true to life.

I highly recommend Baseball Mogul. However, I recommend Out of the Park Baseball 9 much much more. I have both.ghostrunner wrote:I wonder if Baseball Mogul for the PC would be more enjoyable for you, haltz. BM09 is fantastic, simple and extremely fun. I have 10 or 11 save games that I just fooled with for hours. OOTP9 is incredibly, INCREDIBLY in depth and hard to get used to, but once you do, it's incredible. And not hard to get used to like frustrating. Hard to get used to as in there's SO much stuff to do that you have absolutely NO idea where to start. You can play in a lot of different leagues/countries including Japan (Nippon) and Korea and others. It's outstanding.

Baseball Mogul annoys me. When you play on easy mode, it's just too easy. If you step up the difficulty then you're on a shoe string budget and dumb things happen like last night: I signed Mark Beuhrle to a 4 year / 32m contract. Great deal. My scouting was budgeted 1st, and I had him rated as a 93 pithcer (0-100 scale). He pitched one season for me, and had 15 wins with a 3.70 or so ERA. Good stuff, he was a 2nd-3rd starter and that's what I needed him for.ghostrunner wrote:I wonder if Baseball Mogul for the PC would be more enjoyable for you, haltz. Then the next season rolls around and I look at my staff and suddenly Buehrle is rated a 66, which is pretty poor. Since he's taking up 10% of my payroll, I can't just release him and sign someone else. So I hope for the best that he can leg it out. Half way through the season his ERA is over 6. Now I can see players skills diminishing over time, or after an injury or something like that. But going from one of the best pitchers in the league to absolutely terrible during your age 28 season? Yeah maybe that might happen on occasion, but not once a season to your high paid players. It was basically his control. He went rated from a 95 control to a 48. So apparently he just suddenly forgot how to throw a baseball. Rick Ankiels happen, but not as often as in that game.

There's some changes you can make to the career window and some of the other settings to make this happen less. I don't have it open or anything atm but I do know there's some options you can tweak to lessen this.TheoSqua wrote:Baseball Mogul annoys me. When you play on easy mode, it's just too easy. Re: New Xbox Live "experience"
RROD #2 last night, and I just spent half an hour trying to convince some girl in India that my address is not a P.O. box so they'll ship me a container. Now I have to call back and argue with a supervisor. Considering my 3 years are up in a month or two anyway, I'm thinking of just saving myself some hassle, and three weeks without an Xbox, by fixing it myself.
