It's interesting that Tyler O'Neill is immediately a starter after coming off the IL. That almost feels like to me they want teams to get a good look at him for a week or two and he'll be the one to go. I don't think you publicly say Carlson is a 4th outfielder when you're trying to deal him (not that any of this posturing really matters).

I think it would be a different headline. Gorman would be attractive to them. 2B is a black hole and what they really need is a potential middle of the order bat, but he isn't as valuable as Gilbert so it would be Gorman+.

You could get Bryan Woo for one of those guys maybe, who could be insanely valuable and under control forever but has essentially no track record to speak of. Pitched 70 innings at Cal Poly, 100 innings in the minors and is now starting in the big leagues striking out 11 guys per 9.

Watched the video with Mo and he talks about how the defense has been less effective, really focuses on the lack of the shift and thinks the Cardinals were particularly good at that in years past but now it's off there table. Upshot is that he says internal discussions are on how they evaluate pitching and they need to focus more on swing and miss going forward since they can't play to that strength.
