Yeah man, the Mayor of Hannover is legit. One of the only Americans to captain a European team, he's the ever-so-rare, one-club-player in Germany's top flight for a reason. He's incredibly consistent, really smart getting forward and a good leader. Of all US National team players, he may be the most unimpeachable. Doesn't hit the highs of Howard, Donovan, Dempsey etc, but he's definitely consistently good to very good.

I think I might be getting him confused with someone else...I'll have to look into it later.

Yeah, Cherundolo is the one constant on the backline for the US(I don't love Bocanegra).

Isn't Boca a very consistent, very average (internationally speaking) back? I've always thought of him as a reliable player, as long as he wasn't isolated against crazy speed.

Well, he's a consistent American back.
And America consistently sucks in the back. And recently he's played more than anyone back there.

That's an accurate assessment. He's a step slow now that he's over 30, but he's still strong and good at holding the defensive line and shape. Not good with the ball at his feet and like you said, can be exposed by speed. He's a prototypical American center back in the line of Eddie Pope, Alexi Lalas etc.

Adu back to MLS. Sure was a surprise in the Gold Cup.

Freddy to Philly. Great move for both. Good team, quality offensive running mates, familiar coach and defensive responsibilities will be emphasized.


Also, ESPN2 is going to be showing Fulham feat. the Dempsey sneer v Aston Villa this Saturday in the EPL opener instead of Everton at Tottenham due to the rioting in North London. I'm anxious to see how Deuce fits into his new coach's system or if he's even playing (a lot of interest from Roma with the transfer window getting set to close in the coming weeks).
