But believe me, the Timbers have done nothing but prepare my emotions for just about anything this year. We've probably given up 10 points in the final 15 minutes of games. And we're all mad at him for getting scorched against Mexico, but I have to think Bornstein can play in MLS, and will very easily be an improvement for the Timbers.

Tigres (his team) signed Carlos Salcido from Fulham (Mexican International with adult braces, always unsettling; the braces that is) and Borny already can't get on the pitch for them.
Listen, he's good. He's perfectly fine. He probably should have been starting for Tigres, but sometimes its tough for reasons beyond skill to get settled in on a foreign team. Especially with the American-Mexican dynamic. Even if he's half Mexican. He'll be a very solid, sometimes even really good left back in MLS for the next half dozen years.

The timing may be just off, though. The MLS transfer window closed yesterday. Hopefully it's different because we drafted him and have his rights.

I think it'd be fine if he negotiated a release. Free transfers can happen anytime.

Brek Shea - 8 - Dynamic, creative, fast, fluid, great vision and calm. He didn't look like this was his second cap. On the ball he's as good as anyone we have, his size creates problems for smaller defenders, his ideas are young Dempseyesque and he can play on the left side.
I DVR'ed the game and just had time to watch it last night. It was my first look at Shea and I was extremely impressed. I thought this was an excellent write-up on him. I loved the size and expected him to be bad with the ball, but was very, very surprised to see how good he was with the ball on his feet and with distributing.
I'm going to assume that because of his size he's good on balls in the air, too. If so, he's going to be a force. Exactly the kind of guy that we need to fill out a more complete roster and starting lineup come WC time.

Yeah, he looks like a player, Young, fast, creative.
Probably why Blackburn and some other EPL teams are asking about him.
