I was a little taken aback by McCain's comment about deregulation of the financial markets in 1999 and how it helped out, when in fact it was exactly when this free-for-all started that has us in the mess that we are currently in.

Well of course it helped to grow the economy. But now we are facing the consequences of those actions.
