Because I think people invest too much emotion and time in debates or discussions with people who's opinions they can't change. Or otherwise can't affect except by vote.planet pujolsian wrote:I can never understand this. Why can't you believe that?Cronos69 wrote:I can't believe this thread is 400+ pages.
I personally like discussing issues that truly matter with people. Even if I disagree with them. It's how I learn things.Cronos69 wrote:Because I think people invest too much emotion and time in debates or discussions with people who's opinions they can't change. I don't follow this thread to change someone's opinion, I check in to be updated. I'm just curious about why you're such an apolitical creature.Cronos69 wrote:Because I think people invest too much emotion and time in debates or discussions with people who's opinions they can't change.planet pujolsian wrote:I can never understand this. I thought of checking it to keep oneself updated about the political situation just as I was posting, and I should have said so. Granted.planet pujolsian wrote:I don't follow this thread to change someone's opinion, I check in to be updated. That's because you spend all your time and energy here trying to refute the GOP scandal du jour and it devolves into a pointless argument. Post all you want about Obama. Better yet, post about actual issues and why your guy or your party is better for the job. I'm one of the few truly independent voters here and I have yet to decide who gets my vote, so I'd like to hear as much as I can from both sides. But telling me why I shouldn't vote for Obama isn't the same as telling me why I should vote for McCain. If you filter out the petty arguments about trivial issues you've had with 2 or 3 specific posters, there has been some pretty good discussion going on here from people on both sides and in the middle. Focus on continuing to contribute to that and ignore the other stuff. None of that is going to influence my vote one way or another. You've claimed at least four separate times to be done with this thread but you continue to pop in when it suits you or to play the "woe is me" act. That's not taking the high road, it's taking the easy way out.BW23 wrote: Whatever, "dude".
I'm not tucking and running. I'm just taking the high road. This is clearly a liberal love fest. What exactly is the point of sticking around? To get this thread locked? To get people banned? To get people totally hating me (the ones that don't already)? I mean, I've actually played nice and held a ton back. And anything I say gets pounced on, and frankly, I don't see the point.
I can take my lumps. That's not a concern to me. Nothing has been said to me or about me that will make me lose one ounce of sleep.
But nobody is here to debate. If I chime in on anything, then it just becomes one big argument. Look at every single post made today and give me one reason I should even bother to continue with this thread. Look at all of the mudslinging and hypocrisy from just today. Sure, there's some legit stuff, but I most isn't, and if anyone from the opposite side said anything similar about Obama, then they'd get called out so quickly. I should know. Yet those same people are doing it now.
I've got much better ways to spend my time than to continue with this crap.
You've got to be [expletive] me.NEW YORK, N.Y. – John McCain's campaign has floated the possibility that Sarah Palin may also suspend her campaign, matching McCain’s announcement that he would cease campaigning for president to return to Washington to try to hammer out a fix for the nation’s financial meltdown.
Letterman had a good point that if McCain truly was suspending his campaign this would be the time for Palin to step up and show she is capable. If this is true it says a lot about her own party's confidence, or lack thereof, in her abilities.PujolJunkie wrote:http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13883.html
