It really is unbelievable how stupid people are.

It is. But then again it isn't.

So last Saturday a party bus of 30 people from here went over to Missouri to bar hop because the bars here are closed. These people are all grown adults, mostly over 50. They should have known better and now I feel like they have put our entire community at risk. Facebook is a [expletive] storm right now with lots of people livid about it. Why does it matter now? Well at one of their stops 5 people in that town are suspected of having Covid. Those 5 people all worked at one of the bars this bus went to. [expletive] believable how selfish and stupid people are.

This, and many other examples is why the United States will be one of the hardest hit by this....people are selfish, stupid, or just flat out don’t care about how what THEY do effects others regarding coronavirus (and tons of other things obviously)

Many American cultural and institutional issues play into this--individualism and a relatively decentralized society, but also an overconfidence in our own knowledge and ability to control our own destinies.

I do think the country will learn some hard lessons from this. The cost of the lessons will be steep.

Yep - it really is ingrained in our psyches from birth. That the US is special, and the laws of gravity and what not don't apply to us.

The place I work uses this stuff all the time tracking tourism activity. All we know is phones that came to our area went on or went back to other areas and we use that to help place ads and determine what kind of person comes to visit.

Though I’m sure the telecoms or google could put names to those dots.

Btw, the last hyped/promised advance - chloroquine, which our dear President touted as a miracle cure - was based on a completely fabricated study by a guy who publishes a few hundred bogus studies a year.

I saw a study of 30 people (15 control, 15 on hcl) showed no difference, but that's not really in different than a study showing a difference. Have you seen something else?

This video provides some good information.

Certainly not a good idea to claim it's a miracle drug (or any drug is a miracle drug at this point as there's no testing). But, there are a lot of anti-virals out there and some of them are working better than others, anecdotally.

There's another video this guy made, I think, about the reason they think antibiotics are necessary is to decrease inflamation which is causing a lot of problems.
