You know how Republicans have spent a lot of time doing silly things like calling Obama the "savior" the "messiah" or the "one"? Check out the newest issue of National Review:
Within 48 hours of being picked as John McCain’s running mate, it was clear that Sarah Palin would become an icon to conservatives, who fell instantly in love for the same identitarian reasons that drove the online Left around the bend. Now the opportunity to become a national icon is within Palin’s grasp — should she have the wit and luck to seize it.
She's become a national icon alright...

Well, not off the bat. It could take years and years to undo the damage caused by the Bush administration.

Probably not, even though both would be a major improvement to current prez. regardless, the next president is probably going to be considered a failure. they are walking into a mess.

...in this debate, she rose above the liberal smear campaigns.
...They underestimated her.
...Now you know why McCain picked her to be his running mate.
...another feisty Maverick.
...Reaganesque in her ability to connect to the voters.
...she took it to Biden
...Sarah Palin clearly won the debate.
Oh wait, the debates not until tomorrow night...
I better put my GOP talking points back in my pocket.

As low as the expectations are, if she doesn't sound somewhat competent, even I've overestimated her.
