A friend of mine forgot to clip his fingernails before the game. Now he looks like this.

Whatever happened tonight, it was written in the stars.

Yeah, you are probably right. I had a semi-legendary HS football coach in his last years on the field. He could be great one minute, then lose track of downs and make some unworkable down and distance play call.greenback44 wrote: I think La Russa has become substantially slower the last couple of years with his in-game planning. It's something I only would have perceived, rightly or wrongly, after my dad (who was about the same age as TLR) complained about something similar hitting him.

That was just so entirely compounded tonight when he didn't step in in the clearest moment of need.Kyle wrote:La Russa's biggest flaw is, and always will be, his insistence on getting overly-involved in a game. I've said this so many times, but it's like sometimes he does stuff just for the sake of doing something.

It makes me sad that Mo doesn't have Ted Thompson's nuts to just say "no" to a legend (re: mutual option for TLR)

I really do think that is the biggest problem I have with LaRussa. Win or lose, (notice all the writeups about LaRussa pushing all the right buttons when we won this post season) he's gotta have his hands all over the outcome of every game.MrSaigon wrote:That was just so entirely compounded tonight when he didn't step in in the clearest moment of need.Kyle wrote:La Russa's biggest flaw is, and always will be, his insistence on getting overly-involved in a game. I think the write ups are a big part of it. That ego needs to be satisfied. It's not enough to win. He needs to be the reason why the team wins.Richie Allen wrote:I really do think that is the biggest problem I have with LaRussa. Can't help but think his ego is at play there.dmarx114 wrote:I think the write ups are a big part of it. That ego needs to be satisfied. It's not enough to win. I disagree. I think he might be getting older and he might make some bad decisions out of frear/anxiety - but I think he generally knows a lot more than we do and I don't think his ego is an issue.

Re: OFFICIAL TLR HEAD SCRATCHER THREAD
I don't buy the ego thing for a second. TLR always thinks he is putting his players in position to succeed. In his mind, he doesn't have time for ego.
