Agreed. Fiscal conservatism is just one of the many meaningless terms of political discourse. Ron Paul aside, I'm not really aware of any actually practicing fiscal conservatives. In truth, it's just a term used to convey an idea that people like independent of any actual reality. It's part of a general idea that politics is about conflicts over ideas and high minded principles and that you can analyze it by thinking about these various philosophies without the need to notice that they don't particularly relate to the actual practice. Same goes for the idea that tax cuts increase job growth and that the relationship between the tax rate and government revenue is negative. Is that true? No. But nice "idea" anyway.

ACORN has been out of control in several states. Call or e-mail your state's Secretary of State and tell them to look into your state's chapter of ACORN. Get others to do that same. Don't let these criminals get away with voter fraud.

I don't understand the flap over the secessionist thing. First, if Alaskans want to secede, so what? Second, what's the political reality in Alaska? The facts are she ran as a Republican, governed that way (making no legislation or effort toward independence as far as I know) and she accepted the chance to be Vice President in a national election.

To me this is like punishing Obama for the words and actions of his associates. My parents both seem to think he has some hidden agenda, but there's nothing to support this in his actions or words.

As far as her husband goes, James Carville is married to Mary Matalin while Arnold Schwarzenegger is married to Maria Shriver. It doesn't matter.

I'm still trying to figure out how all this mudslinging by McCain/Palin as far as connecting the dots that Obama is a terrorist is somehow going to shift undecided and indy voters?

That's fodder for the crackheaded email senders not people looking for reason to vote for McCain and not for Obama.

They aren't really aiming at independents with this tactic. Fire up the base with this nonsense, suppress the Democratic vote, and pray for some national security disaster to bring enough independents over to give him a shot.

Is their base this stupid? I figure that talk is going to fire up the ones that want kill Obama and that's not who I consider their base, that's reserved for the fringe lunatic.

This is going to backfire even more, but won't get noticed b/c of the downward trends already.

Of course these things don't matter. It's all just politics. And I agree with you... If Alaska wants to secede, let them secede. But it's obviously an issue worth considering when you elect someone president of the US. Now I'm not sure Palin supports or supported secession, but it's a question that is worth asking her and hearing her explain. Of course you can't hear her answer if she won't take questions. And naturally when people start trying to raise eyebrows about associations with Rev Wright, Rezko, and Ayers, the tit-for-tat response will happen. And for whatever reason, husbands and wives have always been a part of our political vetting process.
