Okay, "all" is a strong word, but a lot, if not most, of the polls conducted are based largely off of previous turnout.Arthur Dent wrote:That's not quite true. It's one way to do it, but each pollster has it's own methodology. For example, they also ask certain question like, "Did you vote for President in 2004?"PujolJunkie wrote:All of these polls are assuming the same turnout as 2004.

Call me crazy but I have the feeling the voting booths are going to be the place to be for the young kids this election. They know they have the opportunity to win this thing for Obama and they're not going to miss the opportunity to be a part of history. This isn't just another election.KyCardinalFan wrote:I don't think one can say this is over. Not because there's so much time left before the election, but I don't trust the polls. Are these polls registered voters or likely voters?
Obama leads by huge margins among young people, specifically college-aged - the worst group as reliable voters. Maybe they've got a big term paper, maybe a friend asked them to go out to lunch, maybe the line is too long, maybe they're too hung-over or maybe they just don't feel like it. Whatever the reason, historically this age group chooses not to vote. Perhaps the lure to affect change will bring them out in record numbers, but then again perhaps the assurance that 'this is over' will make them think their vote won't matter.
I'm concerned that many won't vote and that this election will be closer than people think.

John McCain appears to me to be slowly but inexorably becoming more desparate. His temper is legendary, and at times he looks like he's about to lose it on tv. His debate performance was poor. He has always been poorly spoken, but this week he looks ill at ease. And angry. He's lashing out at Obama and grasping at petty issues. It's not pretty.

As these days pass, McPalin is looking less like a team of Mavericks and more like a couple of Desparados.

If this elections was still based on culture, defense, war, etc. I would agree that McCain could not be counted out as well as I think time is of no circumstance unless something major happens (McCain curing the cancer on the economy or an attack on American soil).KyCardinalFan wrote:I don't think one can say this is over. Heh. I'm assuming she meant nothing racial about this statement.“Some in the mainstream media are saying that, well, we’re taking the gloves off unfairly. No. You know there are only, what, 26 days to go. We gotta start getting answers to these questions that are paramount here so that voters have a choice in front of them that is based on truthfulness and candor. They deserve it.”
The Alaska governor told Ingraham’s listeners that if those questions were being answered, voters would find Obama “out of the mainstream,” adding that the Illinois senator would diminish “the prestige of the United States presidency.”

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin
So I watch Joce's videos during lunch. I'm sitting in a conference room with a few other people. Mid-afternoon, some guy comes in and asks what we think about the market. The discussion turns to how the economic meltdown is helping Obama. I suggested that McCain should focus on offering economic solutions instead of "associations". One guy's jaw clearly tightens when I say this, and he glares at me and says "you do know that Ayers is unrepentant, don't you?"
I just re-watched the videos but didn't spot him in the crowds.
