Their pythagorean record is 46-50. I don't think their true talent is 10+ games below .500, but is probably closer to being +/- 4-5 games from .500, which isn't great.Fat_Bulldog wrote: ↑July 20 23, 10:19 amHow bad is this team though? What if they had only lost half of the 21 saves they had blown? Or say, only 5 or 6 of them?

Bad enough to blow 21 saves, definitelyFat_Bulldog wrote: ↑July 20 23, 10:19 amHow bad is this team though? What if they had only lost half of the 21 saves they had blown? Or say, only 5 or 6 of them?

They lost 6 times leading after 8, 3 of which were with 2 outs.Fat_Bulldog wrote: ↑July 20 23, 10:19 amHow bad is this team though? What if they had only lost half of the 21 saves they had blown? Or say, only 5 or 6 of them?
Countless other games were lost in the 7th, 8th, and extra innings as well.
33-29 over last 62.
The bullpen cost us this season (and yes, Mo deserves blame for this).

33-29 still isn't that good, though. That's barely above .500 and extrapolated across an entire season is an 86 win pace.
April was a cluster [expletive] exacerbated by the team's best hitters not hitting while the pitching was its absolute worst. The pitching still isn't good but the hitting is better.

I didn't say it was good. I was responding to the poster that was (rightfully) questioning just how "bad" this team actually was.Lesson wrote: ↑July 20 23, 11:18 am33-29 still isn't that good, though. That's barely above .500 and extrapolated across an entire season is an 86 win pace.

Exactly. You can blame all our woes on the horrendous back end reliever corps. Not that the middle has been much better. How many leads have we blown before a save chance? Is that tracked anywhere?Fat_Bulldog wrote: ↑July 20 23, 10:19 amHow bad is this team though? What if they had only lost half of the 21 saves they had blown? Or say, only 5 or 6 of them?

Patience required as Mo works his magic.

Jarred Kelenic broke his foot kicking a water cooler yesterday so maybe the Mariners really, really want an outfielder now.

Article going over potential Yankees and Cardinals trades, since they both make logical sense for each other. Aside from Carlson, also Brendan Donovan and Nootbaar were both mentioned as players the Yankees would be interested in and even though the Cardinals would like to keep them and consider them part of their core (Specifically Nootbaar). And said it would take a haul to get Nootbaar or Donovan from the Cardinals.
But she said ultimately their desperation for pitching need may win out, and they're going to have to part with pieces they didn't want to. And the Yankees desperately need hitting, so they may cave to demands.
