Derrick Rose has left orbital fracture

The Bulls guard took an elbow to the face during today's practice and suffered a left orbital fracture. He will have surgery Wednesday, which is when the team will determine how long he is out of action.

-He is already thinkin about free agency (non story, he just has never been able to give any kind of good interview)
-He passed his girlfriend off to his friends to have sex with, most likely while he was around.

So, yeah, he's super gross.

I've never seen an athlete have so much social currency and just light it on fire. He was so beloved when he came up. I can't wait until he leaves.

You also left out the worst thing he did this week. He's been taking passive aggressive shots at Jimmy Butler's new contract. Jimmy Butler's response was perfect though. Basically said, I don't care what he says as long as he's on the court helping us win games.

I've settled on my opinion of him. I simply never want him to be a Bull again. We missed our window with the absurd dominant defense teams under Thibs, Rose by every account seems like a stupid, unlikable person off the court, and increasingly sounds like a [expletive] teammate as well.

Between the Cardinals glut of injuries, and the Bulls glut of injuries, I am really weary of tottering on the edge of Championship Expectations and Get This Season Overwith Already for too many consecutive seasons. First World Problems, in some way, but the two teams I am really passionate for have both been so damn close the past couple years. I need to finally find an NFL team to truly root for, preferably one that's more of an 7-9, playoffs would be cool sort of team.

D Rose should probably avoid criticizing anyone's pay considering he makes $40 million a year to play mediocre basketball and wear ugly shoes that no one wants.

He should act like a goddamn leader, something he has never shown any interest in his entire career, in my opinion.

There's a lot of unfortunate circumstances out Derrick's control. A lot of unfortunate circumstances out of the Bulls control. Even if everything broke right, they probably don't win a title in this era. It's everything they could control that has soured everybody. The Bulls' hands are far from clean, but ultimately, Derrick is the least likable character in this tragedy and because he's injured so often, he's the one who demands the most patience. That's just a frustrating combo. More frustrating still is the fact that I don't even know how bad a guy he is. A huge portion of it is that he's just not very smart or savvy about the world he now lives in.

Here in Chicago there's so much emotional equity invested in Rose, and especially in Rose being healthy. We got that little glimpse of how brilliant he could be in a season that seems like a lifetime ago, and he's just never lived up to it. There have been injuries, but there has also been Rose's inability to adapt into a different kind of player after the injuries. Great players IMO adapt. Jordan and James were so elite at going to the rim and worked later to become better perimeter players against the day that their ability to explode to the rim started to dip. Rose has not done that. He could adapt to being an elite ball-handler/distributor with a good outside game, but has never seemed to have any interest in that. I think it has to do with drive. He just isn't motivated the way guys like Jordan/Bird/Magic/James/Thomas and some others have been motivated. Kobe's the same. He wants to be the go-to guy even now when he doesn't have the skill set to be the go-to guy. The NBA is rough, you have to find where you fit as your career evolves and if you keep trying to put the square peg of your young athletic self into the round hole of your aging capacity you're going to fail IMO.

Yeah, and there's plenty of time for him to adapt. He's certainly capable as long as he's healthy. That innocent fan experience is gone though.

Nobody in the draft will play harder than Portis. Athleticism is a concern, but he has nice touch and is a good offensive rebounder.

I watched every one of his college games.

I'm starting to get excited about Portis. He's killing people in preseason.
