At first glance that looks like a Golden Corral

Seems like a good gamble to me. Thanks for your input, @phins , you know more about prospects than ANYONE and I appreciate your insights.
I understood that reference.

Cardinal Territory discussing the trade and making Dick Fitts jokes.

Seems like a better return than I would have guessed. Props to the Dewitts for approving the $20M.

I bet Fitts ends up in the rotation.

Liberatore
Leahy
McGreevy
Pallante
Fitts/Matthews

It might be worth getting a Quintana type to take on some innings. What is Mikolas up to?

Fitts will definitely be in the rotation this year.

This does set my expectations pretty high for a Brendan Donovan return though.

Imagine if we had been doing this two years ago.

They can add a starter or two. I know Mozeliak made the job look impossible but it’s really not. Cardinals will be an attractive spot for someone looking to increase his value on a one-year deal.

The return they got for Sonny Gray was essentially what Milwaukee got for Corbin Burnes. The Burnes return was slightly higher when you add the pick being more than the PTBNL/Cash the Cardinals got.

Trades are always exciting because of the unknown, but the return on most trades will not be an immediate above average starting player etc.

Depending on your tolerance for injury risk, this was a good to great return in my view. And no matter your rubric it was more than I expected.

That fastball has life. Hopefully the command issues were the result of coming off injury (most baseball fans know command is last thing to come back after major surgery).

When he commands it to upper quadrants that fastball explodes.
