I agree...I said this somewhere in the early 20s I believe...Glaus, Ankiel, and Joel coming off the books give us more than enough to sign him and put a bench together.
You really think we won't resign Ankiel?

My Sean Connery impression is much better in person.

Imagine if Glaus could get his stroke together and have the ability to DH in a World Series scenario.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I don't post much...but, should I be upset that this team just traded for a 3 time all star outfielder while giving up 2 AAA life-ers and a guy who is cut from the same cloth as Sean Casey, Paul LoDuca, and Aubrey Huff?

Well, that was bound to happen -- with or without this trade. Either Wallace is called up (and there is no one else good left in our farm system), or he was traded.

I will say this -- as one of the more outspoken critics of the organization over the last three or four YEARS, and as one of the forum's most unhappy posters with the team's direction and decisionmaking --

It has been a damn good four weeks or so.

Taking the right guy in the amateur draft, making a very sound international acquisition, trading an over-valued prospect (minor league closer) for a versatile player with a legit bat, willingness to give up a blue-chipper BUT not just for anyone, for a legit two-way impact player, not over-reaching into the Halladay sweepstakes by including Razzle and/or Waino ---

Steverino likes. Two thumbs up on the Big Picture shown in the last month or so.

Maybe the much-ballyhooed turnaround has finally arrived, in more than just intermittent, out-of-context isolated OK decisions (like drafting and signing Wallace).
Excellent Analysis. proves there is someone alive in the front office
Yep (and thanks to Jewels too for the other shout) -- for me the exciting thing is -- the past month is a return to what I used to tout as the Cards' secret formula to mid-market success, a blueprint which, for the past three plus years they have botched in almost every conceivable way.

Would our package to the A's netted Holliday from the Rockies?
Anyone?

IMO you shouldn't be. But the cloth you mentioned might be the most eclectic cloth ever.

I'm inclined to say thjat warts and all, Wallace is probably the best of any of the players traded for Holliday in the past year.

So are they going to give that 1.5 to Shelby or what?
