Here's a lightening up subject: John McCain can't win this election anymore. So it's silly for us to even get angry about it anymore.

I was thinking more like cold death.jim wrote:We need to lighten things up some before things get out of hand. Here, I'll give everyone an opinion on the lighter side and we can all discuss.
John McCain looks like death warmed over. Discuss.
So what exactly did you mean by pointing out that their hatred is the result of the actions of 9/11?BW23 wrote:Please show me where I said it's okay to. I'll help you out. You can't.

Stating, unbidden, that the racism in your city is the result of the actions of a few minorities does shift the blame for racism and does in fact justify the racists' sentiments.BW23 wrote:I could go on and on about how racist the city that I live in is. But stating that it is isn't the same as supporting it. It's not the same as justifying why someone hates a particular race.
I'd venture to say that I'm the only one who said so openly but I wasn't the only one who took it that way. I'm also still curious if you've put any thought into why your motivations are called into question, and not those of the other conservatives around here. It's really quite simple. In fact, I'd venture to say you're the only one that's trying to manipulate it to mean something it's clearly not.
That doesn't even make sense.cpebbles wrote:Stating, unbidden, that the racism in your city is the result of the actions of a few minorities does shift the blame for racism and does in fact justify the racists' sentiments.
What motivations are you talking about? Stating that I'm strongly opposed to Obama? It couldn't be that I lean far to the right. It must be that I'm racist.I'd venture to say that I'm the only one who said so openly but I wasn't the only one who took it that way. My six year old has stated a few funny ones, too. She's been reading a ton about the election.Freed Roger wrote:My five year old - has started spouting off a few funny election comments.
- in the car, a McCain ad came on and she says "John McCain always says 'blah blah blah Barrack Obama'".
- some ladies at a store the other day were belly-achin about all the political talk and she chimes in "...yeah, John McMean!"
Oh she is a hoot. Honest, I don't think she's getting this stuff from me. Ok she knows I favor Obama but thats about it - we try to keep the poli-talk down to a minimum here. I quizzed her a bit on where she heard all this, and I tell her McCain is ok. but she stands firm with her assessment.
