If he really did turn down $275M from the Marlins, Albert may have single-handedly saved baseball in south Florida. It is just another testament to his transcendent powers.Radbird wrote:indyredbird wrote:Reading this made me feel a bit better:

Im comforted to know Pujols prayed about his decision the night before.planet pujolsian wrote:This USA Today Nightengale article definitely paints Albert in a good light. It's timeline of how the negotiations went down. It makes me sad.

I wonder how voters in Baltimore would think if it was Cal Ripken Jr. who left.
I wonder how voters in Atlanta would think if it was Chipper Jones who left.
I wonder how voters in New York would think if it was Derek Jeter who left.
Yes, it negatively effects players' legacies, and its not just some bias opinion. Among the all time greats in the modern era, could you honestly look at all three of those players in the exact same light if they didn't play with the same team their entire careers?

They give him the best chance to win because he typically doesn't show up in the playoffs.Lesson wrote:Now, the Angels do have a very good 3(Weaver/Haren/Wilson) but come on.cardsfantx wrote:So torii hunter was on MLB network and said Pujols called him.

If I were a (former) Cardinal teammate of Albert, I'd have a hard time not being offended by his alleged comment.go birds wrote:They give him the best chance to win because he typically doesn't show up in the playoffs.Lesson wrote:Now, the Angels do have a very good 3(Weaver/Haren/Wilson) but come on.cardsfantx wrote:So torii hunter was on MLB network and said Pujols called him.

Albert adds a lot, but offensively that club is not especially formidable. It's an old club, and will need big years from Kendrick, Bourjos, and Trumbo to compete with Texas, NYY, Boston, etc.
