Michael Kopech opts out. Pretty notable as he’s the first non MLB established player to do so.

Giants already were going to probably be a bad team and now they lose their #1 player.

He's at least in the discussion for their best player and a team that hasn't been very good recently you can't afford to lose any of your good players. And he's probably the unofficial de facto captain of the team.MinorLeagueGuy wrote: ↑July 11 20, 8:01 amDebatable he's their best guy. Yaz might be that guy as of this year.

11 umpires opt out. Before the jokes start, I haven't seen a list of who they are.
Eleven MLB umps have exercised their right to opt out of (or otherwise decided not to participate in) the 2020 season, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports on Twitter.
That’s a rather large number of umpires, in the context of the league’s typical overall roster. The present list includes about ninety umps in all.

With no minor leagues this year there'll be plenty of umpires to get through 2 months of a season. Especially if they're going with Robo umps for Balls & Strikes.

I don't think there are any robo-umps yet, but certainly a lot of available umpires hungry for a MLB paycheck.
