Greatest Hits/Compilation albums...For or against? I know artists hate them because they, "Don't represent the work as it was intended <insert more crap>" Anyway, I love'em. I've heard enough of The Cure to know that they're solid and influential, but I just don't wanna explore that catalog. I'm gonna guess I'm in the majority.

I'm extremely out of touch with music any more. Billy Corgan & Smashing Pumpkins are like the 1 band I still follow from my youth. I'm still hoping they turn out another masterpiece one of these years. "Monuments to an Elegy" is their latest album that came out last month. If you like the Pumpkins, you will like it. It's a very short album, especially for them. Only 9 songs, and only like 32 minutes. There is only 1 song I don't like much. The others are all pretty good, and a couple that are excellent. Not the masterpiece I was hoping for, but not bad. They are releasing another album next year, too. Maybe that will be it.

I just saw Trans Siberian Orchestra for the 1st time over the weekend. I know, behind the times. I really liked about one third of the songs, and I bet it would be more if I wasn't hearing them for the 1st time. The light show and production was really cool, which I expected. But behind the lights they have some talent. Mainly I just wanted to talk about/drool over Gabriela Guncikova. Evidently she just joined them 6 months ago. She's from the Czech Republic, but sings like she's from Abilene. I guess she was a finalist on the Czech version of American Idol. I'd be pretty surprised if she didn't end up doing something bigger than TSO.

Didn't Billy Corgan turn back into the total loser he was as a kid? I'm sort of kidding.

If you would like to continue to like Billy Corgan, by all means do not read this interview with The Guardian.

It's not awful, it's called a chord progression and you could mashup six popular songs from any genre and make them all sound exactly the same.

i'd just call it a pretty good mashup.

yeah but the fact that you can mash 6 of them together doesn't make them more terrible is all my point was.
