With infection rates the way they are, especially in hot spots like Florida and Texas, I don't see how baseball can be played outside of a bubble.

The bubble might be the only way to go. Any one team could probably do a perfectly good job of distancing, masks, etc... Doesn't do any good though once a couple teams don't adhere to guidelines. I could see a couple players getting it due to bad luck but 12 seems more like just not trying.

Just in this Pittsburgh series, I've noticed most players with the face masks aren't covering their noses. They probably don't need masks outside anyway, but if they wear them that way on the field I'm guessing that extends to off the field too. Others are wearing those flimsy one layer neck things. Nobody is using those tents they put up in the stands for distancing, so everyone is in the dugout or locker room. Seems like it's just for show, though i'm sure some players and staff are being serious about it.

Here's a question to ponder: Does this most recent outbreak inspire any player(s) from any MLB team(s) to now opt-out?

The Nations have now voted against playing the Marlins this weekend. Decision is still MLB's.

The Nationals are off to a bad start this season and they're giving up what would be guaranteed wins against a depleted Marlins team.

I think that just shows how concerned players are about the virus. The Nats also have the very present situation of one of their own getting inconsistent test results. I wouldn't be surprised if a number of their players are questioning if they can trust the testing... and that applies not just to their own testing, but also of their opponents.

Lorenzo Cain has opted out of the remainder of the 2020 season.

“Lorenzo Cain has informed us that he will not participate for the remainder of the 2020 season," Brewers general manager David Stearns said Saturday. "We fully support Lorenzo’s decision, and will miss his talents on the field and leadership in the clubhouse.” It's a huge blow to fantasy players who invested in Cain as a buy-low player in 2020 drafts. Ben Gamel is likely the biggest beneficiary here, as he's looking like an everyday player in the Brewers' outfield sans Cain.

MLB began employing security guards at team hotels to make sure no one violated safety and health protocols. They got their money’s worth in Chicago with Cleveland starters Mike Clevinger and Zach Plesac both getting caught leaving the hotel. They are both being quarantined.
