I did, on the other hand, just have to print up a Snopes article to disprove a flier being passed around locally by McCain supporters, that claims Obama thinks the National Anthem should be replaced with something less bellicose like I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing. I'm not sure whether I'm more amused or saddened that this needs to be disproved...
Saddened. There's plenty of reasons to not want to vote Obama without making up all these stupid stories about him being a Muslim or not born in the US and so on. It just reinforces stereotypes about Conservatives.

Really? I'm not. I'm confident that he's a better choice than McCain and a big improvement over Bush, but I don't really know if he'll do great things as President.

A lot of people are in for a big shock when it's Washington politics as usual after Obama gets elected.

Question: Do you think Republicans made a mistake going with McCain who has shown to be inept in uniting the party and has ran a very ineffective campaign after ensuring candidacy with an efficient campaign in primaries?

I think McCain is doing a great deal better than most if not all of the non-incumbent Republicans up for election this year. I think someone who could make a claim of being an independent (Though I don't buy those claims) was the Republicans' only chance in the presidential election in this climate. Yeah, Romney wouldn't have taken such a hit in the past few months due to the economic downturn, but I also don't think he would've been running neck-and-neck before that point.

I was really intrigued at the idea of Guilliani running, he came and went so quickly in primaries that I never got a chance to look that in depth into what his plans were, but to me it seemed like such a popular figure who led New York through its hardest days would make a good president. I don't think we've seen the last of him though and I bet in 4 years he puts together another campaign.

I suppose I'm underestimating McCain some. I'm looking at the numbers now and it looks like he's closing in somewhat, but I still think a Republican candidate that would have been able to bring in the conservative vote would have been successful considering bitter some Hillary supporters are.

On Giuliani, he's got way too many personal issues to be electable IMO. Way too East Coast for the "base." And there are plenty of questions about his pre 911 emergency planning including the brilliant idea of placing NY's Emergency Command Ctr in the WTC.

Nah. I'll probably just flip a coin before I go into the booth.

I got this email titled "Obama campaign finances".
Michael --

I'm the Chief Financial Officer for Barack Obama's campaign. I track the donations coming in and the expenses going out.

I asked for the opportunity to write to you directly so that I could try to explain what's happening right now.

This organization has thousands of employees and spends millions of dollars a day -- and at the moment we're doing it without a safety net.

Our spending plans have been stretched by John McCain's negative attacks and the overwhelming resources of the Republican National Committee.

As of October 15th, John McCain and the RNC together had nearly $20 million more in cash than the combined total of Obama for America and the DNC. And just this week, we're facing new and unexpected spending against us in Montana and West Virginia.

Your incredible generosity has gotten us this far. But right now we need your help more than ever to get this campaign across the finish line.

Please donate $100 or whatever you can afford right now:

https://donate.barackobama.com/RNCadvantage

My team and I are working to stretch every dollar in order to keep as many paths to victory open as possible. But we need whatever help you can provide for this crucial final stretch.

Thank you,

hahaha the Obama campaign is poor mouthing because of the McCain money machine.

And while we're at it...
