Re: Pujols Signs With Angels

Funny considering that in 2009, after watching STL play in San Diego, I made a trip up to watch the Angels play the Tigers and some random LA gang banger thug looking type got up in my face in the parking lot and seriously was like, "WTF man, I think you took a wrong turn or something. Pujols? Pujols? why you wearing that here man?"

Now, I'm sure they all have their Pujols gear.

disgusting.

I just realized it is about time GRB joined the birther movement about Albert. With our knowledge and investigative skills, we'll crack this nut.

Can I start a sticky thread for Albert Pujols updates and sightings?

At the MLB HoF online store they have Pujols jerseys on clearance for cheaper than Rasmus jerseys. Ouch.

Probably because they had a load more of them in inventory than Rasmus ones, if that's the way it works.

You'd think some Angels fans might be interested in buying them, or angry Cardinals fans that would some burning material. I don't think anybody wants a Rasmus Cardinals jersey.

It might be an interesting poll. From this forum, I don't think that many people are mad. Upset a bit, but not mad. It isn't like the LeBron deal where those people are still ticked, understandably to a point. Maybe down in St. Louis, there is a different vibe.

To the City of St. Louis and Cardinal Nation,

I want to thank each and every one of you sincerely from the bottom of my heart for the love and support you have me and my family for the past 11 years. In my time with the Cardinals, I have been fortunate enough to play on championship teams, and in front of championship fans. This community has reached out and embraced me, and for that I am truly humbled and grateful.

My decision to leave has been incredibly difficult, and your support is the biggest reason why. While I am excited about this new chapter in my life, it was very important to me to let you know that St. Louis has been, and will always remain, in my heart. I have been honored to be able to wear the Cardinal uniform the last 11 seasons, and I want to thank the entire Cardinal organization, my teammates, coaches, managers and staff for everything they have given to me as well.

We call St. Louis home and my family and I are so blessed to have made lifelong relationships in St. Louis that we look forward to continuing for many years to come, and words cannot fully express our gratitude to you all.

Thank you and God bless,
Albert and Deidre

for some reason, this just is grating on me in a way I can't quite put into words.

Shoulda just said, "I got paid! Peace out playas! I just bought a private plane! See you in an interleague series at some point!"
When somebody gives us that big of a middle finger, I wish they'd at least be honest about it. I would have been less pissed if he just said, "[expletive] YOU, GOT MINE! LOL"
\

Jeez, I don't get it. What is he supposed to say?

Reading that was the only thing that elicited tears from me so far. You can still believe the Albert's a good, sincere man and cared about STL, just not enough to overlook the contract delta.
I don't even know that I think he's a good man (or as good as he makes it seem), but the letter seems sincere enough, and I do think he has good feelings about the city. Sounds like he's more pissed at the FO than anything. Reads similar to Edmonds goodbye IIRC, though I think he took out an ad.
WTF does he have to be mad at the Cardinal front office for, the St. Louis Cardinals could not afford a contract of that magnitude and still field a team capable of playing .500 ball let alone contending.

[expletive] you Albert and don't let the wagon doors hit you on the ass on the way out.

Don't forget that the Cardinals 10/210 deal was a last minute offer. They wanted 9/198 with an option to get in a 10th year. The Angelrs 10/254 also includes bonus clauses that oculd make it 10/280.

So the difference in money could just as easily be seen as 280m vs 198m as it could be 250 vs 210.

It's pretty hard to pass up 82m.
