Will have to see what the terms of the personal services contract are with the Angels, but I don't quite understand why the Cardinals balked at the PSC. Hasn't that pretty much been standard practice in the past for the Cardinals and their hall of famers? Didn't Ozzie have a PSC? I'm sure of it.

I always thought that there could have been some middle ground reached with Pujols for compensation after his playing career. Even if he wanted $1 million a year for 20 years after his playing days, I think it would be worth it. They could have made him a lifetime Cardinal that way.

If the Angels PSC was reasonable in terms of total cost and that was a big deal breaker with STL, I'll be a little disappointed in STL.

exactly. Someone needs to ask DeWitt though. Find out if a PSC really was a bone of contention for them and why? Maybe he wanted another $5-10 million each year for 10 years. I don't know. There are many valid reasons why a PSC with Albert could have been unreasonable. I just know it was something they've done in the past with players like Ozzie. Seems strange they couldn't agree on one with Pujols.

They still love Brett Hull in this town. The Golden Brett was far more outspoken, left on worse terms, and had to deal with an incredibly passionate group in Blues fans.

Yeah, there might be a few years of resentment, but this city will still love Albert. No doubt about that in my mind.

Brett Hull left because Mike Keenan was an [expletive]. Most people realized that and that's why Hull is still beloved. Albert left purely for more money. I don't think he'll be as beloved as other players from the last 11 years like Edmonds, Carpenter, and possibly Molina and Wainwright.

Keenan was already gone before Brett left. Quenneville was the coach when Hull became a FA.
