This is an unfortunate side-effect to downloadable content and patches: now instead of the company realizing that it has to be perfect before they can ship it out, they'll be rushing to get things out by a certain date (Holiday rush, for example) even though they won't need to actually have it work correctly for a good few months afterward.TimeForGuinness wrote:One word: SOCOMCronos69 wrote:That's what happened with me. Buying the console version means it will work.
They're still releasing patches to get it to work correctly on the PS3. I have a feeling most games will be similar in the future.

It's not too bad. I don't think I've had a problem with a game right off the shelf yet, plus a good amount of 360 and ps3 users don't have internet on their system, so you can't piss them off.Cronos69 wrote:This is an unfortunate side-effect to downloadable content and patches: now instead of the company realizing that it has to be perfect before they can ship it out, they'll be rushing to get things out by a certain date (Holiday rush, for example) even though they won't need to actually have it work correctly for a good few months afterward.TimeForGuinness wrote:One word: SOCOMCronos69 wrote:That's what happened with me. I haven't had any problem with it yet either with my PS3, and I hope it stays that way.cards2468 wrote: It's not too bad. I don't think I've had a problem with a game right off the shelf yet, plus a good amount of 360 and ps3 users don't have internet on their system, so you can't piss them off.

I wouldn't worry, it's well known that Sony has no problem delaying releases.Cronos69 wrote:I haven't had any problem with it yet either with my PS3, and I hope it stays that way.cards2468 wrote: It's not too bad. I'm playing Red Faction: Guerrilla right now. It's a very good, but not great game. The destruction of buildings is incredibly fun, but the missions are a little repetitious. I'll give it a 8.5/10. If you love open world games or can find a good deal on it, I would recommend picking it up.

Final Fantasy VII is coming to the PS3. I've also heard you can get it for the PSP, and that your save states are interchangeable.

Even Crysis can run on the latest sub $500 netbooks. You can build a desktop PC that will tear through most games for only around $350.
I have a 2.5 year old OC'ed E6600 Core 2 Duo, a stock 2.6ghz I think. I originally ran it at 3.5ghz, but I've had to drop it down to 3.1ghz over the years as it's become less stable. Also 3gb ram, Geforce 8800GTX, 300gb velociraptor hdd. Dell 24" 1920x1200 monitor.
It continues to serve me well; I'm planning on upgrading in January to a Core i7 Extreme whatever, 12gb ram, sli,tri-sli, or quad geforce 380gtx's (whichever is the highest configuration not bottlenecked by the cpu), and two 1tb solid state drives.

I've been obsessively and I do mean absolutely obsessively playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare online like crazy. I went from a 13 to a 29 in less than a week and I'm on the brink of 30. I don't know why. I'm just really into it.
