Where were you heading? And how much time would you be spending outside, and at a suitable distance away from other people?IMADreamer wrote: ↑June 24 20, 3:38 pmWe are supposed to leave Saturday for vacation. We are kicking around the idea of canceling. It definitely seems like the virus is coming back and we don't want to be a part of the problem. Not sure what we are going to do yet but I think we are leaning towards not going.

Re: Coronavirus
We were staying at a pretty 'seedy' hotel Monday night. My boss said 'We'll probably get the virus from those rooms'. I said, 'We might not get Corona, but I'm pretty sure we'll get something'.

Michael: [looking at hotel bed under black light] Whoa, what are all those stains?
Dwight: Blood, urine or semen.
Michael: Oh god, I hope it's urine.

Headed to Colorado/Utah/Arizona. We want to hit a bunch of National Parks. Ideally we would be inside to sleep only.sighyoung wrote: ↑June 24 20, 4:08 pmWhere were you heading? Re: Coronavirus
I'd be careful about that particular region because a lot of it is Reservation land, and due to a horrific outbreak in the Navajo nation in the 4 corners region and their horrible lack of resources to deal with it back during the first wave, the reservations really locked down tight. I wouldn't be surprised if most everything is closed. People don't realize that most of the towns, gas stations, hotels, etc surrounding the big tourist parks like Grand Canyon, Zion, etc, are rez towns.
So basically, if you do go, be prepared for massive inconvenience and longer travel times to non-rez towns to get things like food and supplies. At least the windshield time will be beautiful.

My fam is planning to drive to Colorado in 3 weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if by that time, the state of Colorado has a mandatory quarantine in place for anyone traveling from Texas, like NY/NJ/CT just instituted. It would kill our trip. And I wouldn't blame them. Texas has just done abysmally at handling this, for reasons that I'd have to post in our politics forum instead of here.

Re: Coronavirus
my family was gonna drive out here to western colorado next week for july 4th holiday, etc. i believe the folks (wichita) and oldest brother and his family (leawood) are gonna do it but the middle brother and his family, who live in san antonio, had their 2nd child in feb and their pediatrician last week told them to not come out 'cause they don't know exactly how it effects kids, etc and it wouldn't be worth it. i think folks and oldest brother are going to go ahead and come out, this is kinda last week for them to have time/make decision...and it'll be great to see them but i'm nervous about it all. oldest brother got a airbnb place so we should have space/cleanliness and i imagine we'll be trying to do outdoor activities, etc and then a lot of take out options.

Re: Coronavirus
Oof
As North Texas watches COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surge, one family is shouldering a health crisis that they never expected to face.
That crisis, all began on May 30 when just a single relative, unknowingly infected with COVID-19, interacted with seven family members at a surprise birthday party.
Those seven family members then contracted and spread the virus to 10 other relatives.
Now, Ron Barbosa is keeping track of 18 people in his family who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Barbosa didn't attend the party himself, but the celebration was for his daughter-in-law who turned 30.
However, Barbosa's nephew hosted.
That nephew is the one who was unknowingly infected, thinking a slight cough was the byproduct of working in construction.
Before the party, he played golf with a few family members who also attended the event, according to Barbosa.
Even though everyone did their best to stay socially distant, Barbosa said it wasn't enough.
"It wasn't that long. It was only a couple of hours," Barbosa, a volunteer EMT said. "But during that brief time, somehow the other 18 family members are now infected with COVID."
Barbosa, who is also married to a doctor, said he and his wife refused to go to the party due to safety reasons.
However, it was a party that by current state health standards appeared harmless. A total of 25 people attended, and not all of them arrived and stayed for the same duration.
"When people started getting sick, we really let everyone have it," Barbosa said. "We knew this was going to happen, I mean this whole time this has been going on we've been terrified."
Among those infected are two young children, two grandparents, a cancer patient and Barbosa's parents, who are in their 80s.
Three are now hospitalized: Barbosa's parents Frank and Carole, along with his sister Kathy, who is battling breast cancer.
