The irony is all of this is that in St. Louis dollars, the Angel deal is only worth about $127M. Albert left about $93M in COLA and tax-adjusted money on the table. He is no economist.

It's the money and being a baby. That's it.

It ignores COLA though. However, COLA are more regressive so they tend to affect those who have lower incomes than higher. If he moves it does ignore real estate differences, property tax increases etc. But it's not strictly the same as using a $50K salary.

Also, will housing really be a big deal to him? So the $10 million house he had in St Louis is now $16 million in Anaheim. Or not even that much - the streets are paved with foreclosure-sale McMansions out there. Amortize that over at least 10 years. Pretty sure he'll still be able to afford to biggie size at Wendy's (provided they have those in Cali)

Really? I wonder what God would have advised had the Angels offered less money than the Cardinals. I'm assuming God was angry over the Miami Marlins' refusal to offer no-trade protection in their contract bid. Can you tell us how God would have reacted if the Cardinals had offered $254 million or more over 10 years?

Ms. Pujols was quoted on twitter as to saying that if the 10/210 had been on the table they would be wearing the birds on bat today.

Someone asked strauss about it and he says the offer was indeed on the table as it was confirmed by multiple reports.

A few things

1. How many players wives are as vocal about the contract as she is?

2. Why is she so vocal? (is it because she runs the foundation?)

3. they are putting so much spin on this so quick and hard it makes me wonder if they have already seen a backlash to the foundation and restauraunt?


All I know is the more they talk the more I am glad they are gone. After that article from Strauss it was the first time I came to grips with it all and am at peace with it. Bernie's article summed my feelings up perfectly. Who knows though, if MO and DeWitt were as vocal maybe they would sound pretty stupid to.

I am ready for ST and ready for another Cardinal WS minus AP...best way to knock the "Angels gave me a better chance to win" is to go out and prove him wrong.
