It's actually a split contract so he makes less than the ML minimum when he's not on the big league roster.

I agree. The best-case scenario is that Herrera can stick at C. With the surplus of catchers on the Cardinals roster and in the minors, as well as a thin C market this winter, I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one traded.

Pirates? Can't see that.

I know they're going to move him but I would not enjoy having him on a division rival.

Two reasons:

1. The media narrative this offseason seems to be that the Pirates are going to spend money on the team. I will believe it when it happens.
2. Steve Phillips is an idiot.

But what about keeping his powder dry!?! How will we be able to powder later if it's not dry?????
