This article makes me feel better. Basically, Albert would have to match the best season for a 1B or DH for each age 32-41 to match the value of the contract.

Ms. Pujols was quoted on twitter as to saying that if the 10/210 had been on the table they would be wearing the birds on bat today.

Someone asked strauss about it and he says the offer was indeed on the table as it was confirmed by multiple reports.

A few things

1. How many players wives are as vocal about the contract as she is?

2. Why is she so vocal? (is it because she runs the foundation?)

3. they are putting so much spin on this so quick and hard it makes me wonder if they have already seen a backlash to the foundation and restauraunt?


All I know is the more they talk the more I am glad they are gone. After that article from Strauss it was the first time I came to grips with it all and am at peace with it. Bernie's article summed my feelings up perfectly. Who knows though, if MO and DeWitt were as vocal maybe they would sound pretty stupid to.

I am ready for ST and ready for another Cardinal WS minus AP...best way to knock the "Angels gave me a better chance to win" is to go out and prove him wrong.

2. Diedre's always been more vocal than most, she might even be more intelligent, I don't know. She's found kinks in AP's swing before. I think as mentioned, the Pujols family might not be the brightest, or at the very least, have gotten their mind so cluttered with negotiations that they're filled with haze.

3. It's probably not spin so much as it is legitimately how they felt, but as time goes on they're going to have to rationalize their emotions with logical reality and it's only going to get more difficult. At some point Alberts going to have to come to terms with how his measure of respect being millions of dollars might not be the most accurate barometer. And that a small market team struggling to try and justify offering large amounts to compete with bad and overpriced contracts of the large market teams for one person, regardless of how much extra production he has given them, should be classified as dire respect in its own right.

Listening and deducing from some of her thoughts, it sounds like the Cards didn't offer a 10/210 deal that was guaranteed. Must have been some stuff in there that triggered the last couple years while angels is all guaranteed.

That's another angle to an aging AP that the Cards won't have to deal with; an easily irritated superstar that is on the decline but won't admit it, and expects to still hit third. I also doubt he will be willing to DH when he's feels that he's healthy enough to play the field.

Diedre keeps saying St. Louis needs to stop being deceived and hear the other side of the story.

So if the 10/210 was guaranteed they would have stayed in St. Louis. Diedre says they "turned down the biggest offer." This could be the Marlins $275M, but was accurate? (it was tweeted to not be) Did the Mystery team offered $255M+?

Apparently that's the other side of the story in her eyes. FA is frustrating and they didn't want to do it again, wanted it to be the final contract, etc etc.

The Cardinals wouldn't commit to a ten year offer, and they kept praying to God to make something happen, send them a sign, then Arte Moreno makes a call for ten years.

I give up.

Without a doubt MLB will make sure the Angels visit St. Louis next. I would suggest no booing or cheering...silence treatment as if he is just any other player would hurt the most.
