talking with a friend today we pondered and wonder how much AP went to the Angels because of Art's heritage. AP has been known to buddy up better with the Latino's than others. It led me to wonder if all the clubhouse talk needing to be better didn't have something to do with Albert.

There have been many snippets over the last couple of years about AP's behavior, how some in the clubhouse feel about not talking to media, etc. I wonder if Ryan was an escape goat...

Did anyone see the clip where Harold Reynolds asked Ap if Art talked to him in English or Spanish and then Harold told AP why he asked that...that it was an isightful little nugget

If they're so upset about this and willing to talk in the media, then just get the contract numbers out there. No one has said that the Cards deal was guaranteed. And news for you Deidre, no one thinks that you should have gotten a 10 year guarantee.

Why don't they just talk about the Angels and how great life will be in Anaheim? That's what they need to be doing. There is no damage control for this. There is just moving on and focusing on the future. They would be much better off never saying another word about St Louis or the contract negotiations or anything.

Every time this happens, it's the same thing.
1. The athlete takes more money to go somewhere else.
2. The fans get upset.
3. The athlete wonders why fans get upset, and tries to justify it.

I don't know what they expect. Maybe we could have a poll about "What is the correct response to Albert leaving?" Some possible choices for you:
1. "Oh, now I'll just relocate to Anaheim and root for you there, too!"
2. "Yeah, screw the team I've been following since I was 6. They've always been cheap SOBs."
3. "My grampa took me to my first game ever in 1964. Turns out he was full of crap. The Angels are where it's at."

This isn't how it works. I think it shows that athletes are truly out of touch with reality. Pujols isn't the 1st or last athlete this has happened with, though.

Haven't heard Mrs. Pujols' comments. Only have read stuff on this board. Based on that she seems to live in that obscenely wealthy baseball bubble.

Let's say, hypothetically, the Cards offered 7/150 with three vesting or team options to make it 10/220. Let's say Pujols could convince everyone of that fact. It still won't change public opinion because it's $150 million [expletive] dollars.

Cardinals fans loved watching Pujols play baseball. They grew attached to him because he was around 11 years and had tremendous invididual and team success. They're sad and disappointed he's gone. They feel betrayed seeing him in another uniform. That's how sports fandom works. No amount of radio interviews or spin will change the emotions of the siutation. It's time to go.

Calling him and his family selfish rich clueless pricks and telling them to F off is a bit much. We got the best of Albert's career and not have to watch his decline or pay for it. You think the fans in StL wouldn't start booing him in year 6 of that deal or call in to radio shows saying he should retire for the good of the team a la Bic Mac? Of course they would. This spares us that debacle.

GK....That's fine....but the Pujols family should not be insulting our intelligence with the other crap...just admit it was for the Money and move on....They should not be making publicity for the signing of the contract or making excuses for signing it

As others have said, if Albert would simply say THAT, then I'd have much more respect for him.
