I've never been to the grave yard so I'll post so I can visit...

We'll give it some run in here before moving it.
Matsuzaka has 6 pitches that are plus or plus-plus?! Dang.
I disagree that Rasmus' ETA is '09. I think he'll get a mid year or sooner call up in '08.
Barton is dropping like crazy...

My guess is that before he was being evaluated as
possibly a catcher. Now that the A's seem dead-set on making him a 1B or DH, his overall value is less.
Plus that big drop in power last year hurts too.

When Barton was a cardinal I maintained that his value was only that high if he could catch. His lack of pwer as a DH or 1B makes him much less valuable.

Is he the next Scott Hatteberg?

I thought Barton only slugged about .395 either last year or the year before, so even Hatteberg might be pushing it.

In his defense, he's been injured off and on since mid-2005. So it's tough to really get a gauge on his power drop.
But it's alarming enough that he's dropped that far as a prospect. If the power comes back (and develops more, as it should), he could be up there again. I still think his ceiling is more of a Nick Johnson/Lyle Overbay type.

I like the Overbay comparison.

Maybe as a hitter but Barton's defense isn't even close.
