Results for May 9th

Post by New Pagodi »

Memphis won 9-8 against Salt Lake. Chris Narveson had to leave after 2/3 of an inning with a shoulder injury. No one seems to have any specifics right now. And if that wasn’t enough, the game had to go two extra innings further stressing an already overworked bullpen. This could really hurt the pitching situation in Memphis, and it was already a mess. Chris Lambert gave up 1 run over 4 and 1/3 innings with 4 strikeouts. I know it’s early, but he’s been very good since moving to the bullpen in Memphis. John Rodriguez was 3 for 5 with a double and a homer. Rick Ankiel was 3 for 6 with a triple. Box Log

Springfield lost 5-3 to Wichita. Jaime Garcia had his first below average start of the season. He gave up 5 runs over 5 and 1/3 innings. Tyler Greene was 2 for 3 with a double. Box Log

Palm Beach won 9-6 against the Dunedin Blue Jays. Trey Hearne gave up 5 runs over 6 innings. Shane Robinson was 2 for 5. Allen Craig was 1 for 3 with 2 walks. Yesterday I wrote this about Mark Hamilton:
New Pagodi wrote:First basemen Mark Hamilton continued his resurgence and went 3 for 4. Since April 20th he’s doubled his batting average from .133 to .266 today. Less encouraging is that the double today was only his second extra base hit this month.
Today he went 2 for 5 with 2 homers. I'm a real negative barometer. Box Log

Quad Cities won 6-2 against the Lugnuts. Brad Furnish gave up 1 run over 4 innings with4 strikeouts. Tyler Herron gave up 3 and 2/3 innings with 5 strikeouts. Brandon Buckman was 1 for 3 with 2 walks. Each time he was walked Mark Shorey and others did a good job of making the Lugnuts pay. Speaking of Shorey , he was 3 for 3 with a double. Catcher Christian Reyes was 2 for 4. Box Log

He’s on the Palm Beach disabled list. I’m not sure what’s wrong, and I haven’t heard any updates since the season started.

Rodriguez is now up to 278/404/481.

Would a Rodriguez/Ludwick AAAA platoon really be that bad?

I'm not sure that would make any sense considering Rodriguez has hit lefties better his major league career and Ludwick has hit righties a lil better.

McCormick is on the DL recovering from shoulder surgery that he had after last season. He was troubled with bone brusies and was on and off the DL most of last season. Lets hope the recovery is going well.

Well crud. Since shoulder problems tend to be much worse than elbow problems, does that mean his days of throwing in the high 90s are over?

Well you would hope not but even if it takes a few mph off him he should be still throwing in the mid 90s. I just hope he recovers enough to pitch effectivly. Maybe the shoulder was causing his control problems? That would make the surgery a positive. I would gladly take a pitcher with mid 90s velocity and contol than 98-99 mph giving up 6 walks a game like McCormick was doing...
