Post by CardsofSTL »

Is over.

After being DFA'd last week; Roycroft has been traded to Tampa for a Player to be Named Later.

Roycroft will probably save 60 games for the Rays next season.

The player to be named later in the Roycroft trade is Trey Pooser.

Pooser, a 6’4″ right-hander, was the Rays’ 10th-round pick in 2024. The University of Kentucky product was a senior sign who landed a $72K bonus. Pooser has moved mostly to the bullpen in pro ball. He has divided the season between two A-ball levels, turning in a 3.44 ERA across 49 2/3 innings. He has a modest 21% strikeout rate while limiting walks to a 6% clip.

Roycroft has made four appearances since the trade. He has allowed six runs in eight innings, surrendering a home run to Carlos Narváez in a mop-up appearance this afternoon at Fenway Park. He’d pitched seven times for St. Louis this season before being designated for assignment.

Pooser is a prospect, not a great one, but an interesting arm. Was once a heralded recruit who should've signed out of HS (like most prospects).

There are some fun puns that 13 y/o Phins would have come up with.
