One of the things I sometimes find interesting is trading history between teams. The Cardinals and Phillies have had some pretty big ones. Their earliest trade was way back in 1907 when the Cardinals sent Buster Brown to the Phillies for Johnny Lush.

Some of the notable ones:

* July 30, 2022: the St. Louis Cardinals traded infielder Edmundo Sosa to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for left-handed relief pitcher JoJo Romero

* July 29, 2002: The Philadelphia Phillies traded Doug Nickle, Scott Rolen and cash to the St. Louis Cardinals for Placido Polanco, Bud Smith and Mike Timlin.

* November 19, 1998: The St. Louis Cardinals traded Jeff Brantley, Ron Gant and Cliff Politte to the Philadelphia Phillies for Ricky Bottalico and Garrett Stephenson.

* December 16, 1988: The St. Louis Cardinals traded Curt Ford and Steve Lake to the Philadelphia Phillies for Milt Thompson.

* November 20, 1981: As part of a 3-team trade: The Cleveland Indians sent Bo Diaz to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Philadelphia Phillies sent a player to be named later to the Cleveland Indians. The Philadelphia Phillies sent Lonnie Smith to the St. Louis Cardinals. The St. Louis Cardinals sent Silvio Martinez and Lary Sorensen to the Cleveland Indians. The Philadelphia Phillies sent Scott Munninghoff (December 9, 1981) to the Cleveland Indians to complete the trade.

* June 15, 1977: The St. Louis Cardinals traded Bake McBride and Steve Waterbury to the Philadelphia Phillies for Rick Bosetti, Dane Iorg and Tom Underwood.

* February 25, 1972: The Philadelphia Phillies traded Rick Wise to the St. Louis Cardinals for Steve Carlton.

* October 7, 1969: The Philadelphia Phillies traded Dick Allen, Jerry Johnson and Cookie Rojas to the St. Louis Cardinals for Byron Browne, Curt Flood, Joe Hoerner and Tim McCarver. Curt Flood refused to report to his new team. The St. Louis Cardinals sent Willie Montanez (April 8, 1970) and Jim Browning (minors) (August 30, 1970) to the Philadelphia Phillies to complete the trade.

* October 27, 1965: The St. Louis Cardinals traded Dick Groat, Bob Uecker and Bill White to the Philadelphia Phillies forPat Corrales, Alex Johnson and Art Mahaffey.

I hope we win, of course, but I hope we hang a loss on Sanchez because Sonny lost yesterday (he only gave up 2 runs, but the Red Sox only scored 1) and Sonny is in competition with Sanchez for most wins in MLB.

I hope we don't lose.

I hope for a win, if Sanchez loads up on slow stuff and change ups Cardinal batters will strike out a lot
